A lot of choices and competition
Spend more time on other household duties
Real quality of products
Over the past few years, the growth of the Internet, mobile banking and home delivery services have made online shopping a more convenient and enjoyable experience. However, the rise of cyber-crimes prevents some people from adopting this trend. In this essay, I will discuss both side of arguments related to online shopping and state my own opinions.
An advantage of shopping on the Internet is that people can choose products which are not physically sold in their local areas, which means that instead of having to travel, they can use the Internet to buy their expected goods from home and delivery services will quickly transport products to their address. Furthermore, well-know stores such as Walmart, Tesco and Poundland are growing their online presence by building shopping websites, which also increases choices for consumers and drives up competition.
In addition to this, because many people can save time on offline shopping, they can spend more time on other household duties such as reading books with their children and preparing meals. This explains why shopping via the Internet is particularly favoured by housewives.
However, a number of shoppers are concerned about the real quality of products that they buy. Although goods and services may appear appealing and useful on the Internet due to images attached with them, they can actually be of low-quality when reaching consumer’s homes. Moreover, another risk that many shoppers face is cyber-crimes such as personal information theft. Without knowledge of how to use online banking safely, personal details of online shoppers may be stolen, which makes shopping on the Internet a horrible experience.
In conclusion, it is clear that shopping online has both advantages and disadvantages. Having said that, in my opinion, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks because problems of low-quality products and Internet security risks can be solved by tough government .
